Wakame

Wakame is worst invasive species. It is a sea vegetable which is growing in Korea and Japan.
It also has other names such as Miyeok and Undaria pinnatifida. In Japan and Korea Miyeok was growing for hundreds years. First time Undaria pinnatifida appears in English dictionary in 1867. This word was added by James Curtis Hepburn. In United States this word spreads in 1960. In that years Wthis sea vegetable was started shipped to this country. It was shipped dried and was selling in Asian grocery stores. Also this invasive specie was in food stores which were selling natural food. In 1970 and later these stores were getting more and more in number because of increased demand of sushi bars and Japanese restaurants. In France near Brittany it is also cultured from 1983. Also it is collected in Austria and Tasmania islands and is selling to restaurants which are in Sydney. Dried is black. Natural is green and sticky.
In accordance with a healthy diet this Wakame is very good and full of useful materials. As a vegetarian food it is full of omega-3 fatty acid. Also it is full of eicosapentaenoic acid. It has more than 400 milligrams / 100 kilo calories. Its calorie ratio is one of the highest nutrients of such source vegetarian foods. 10 grams of this sea vegetable provide about 8 kilo-calories and has about 30 milligrams fatty acids of omega-3.  It also contains a lot of materials such as:
Iodine.
Niacin.
Calcium.
Thiamine.
Korean woman are eating this rich in useful material after giving birth. As I mention before it is because Miyeok contains a lot of iodine and calcium. No exception pregnant women using it too. Traditional even on birthdays it is eaten.

Studies show that Undaria pinnatifida helps to burn fat. It happens because this sea vegetable has fucoxanthin compound. Studies on mice show that this component interacts with UCP1 protein on fat tissue which is around our organs. Also Miyeok is used in beauty treatments. In medicine practices it was used for:
Intestinal strength.
Hair.
Skin.
Blood purification.
It also helped to regulate the menstrual cycle and have a positive interaction to reproductive organs. But still it is malignant plant.
In New Zealand this plant arrived in 1980. In California on San Francisco Bay it was spotted in 2009. Government attempted to remove it before it spreads. This sea vegetable is one of the thousand worst invasive species. It likes cool coastal areas. It has spread in:
Great Britain.
Argentina.
New Zealand.
United States.
Australia.
France.
Italy.
Spain.
Naturally Undaria pinnatifida spreads by microscopic spores those release every fertile organisms. For not naturally spreading helps Marine farm equipment’s and anchors. Growing by sea farmers for hundreds years Wakame is spreading to all over the world.
And if all the food in the earth will be eaten we will have a lot of natural food – Miyeok and will not die.
I forgot to mention that its taste is sweet. It is most used in salads and soups.
